Save My Brother First

As Australia continues to experience the devastating impact of huge floods, the story of 13-year-old Jordan Rice has become a global inspiration. Caught in the powerful floodwaters, Jordan told rescuers “save my brother first” before he and his mother were swept away and drowned. He is one of many to have perished in the floods.

Jordan personifies the spirit of the hope, courage, selflessness and sacrifice expressed beautifully in the Australian national anthem. The second verse runs:

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
We'll toil with hearts and hands,
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands,
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share,
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia fair.

I love Australia and have spent many years working and living there. My heart is in it for them.

Take courage and advance, Australia Fair.

I share Kevin's love for Oz and am confident that our Aussie friends will make it through these tough times. They sure enough have the right spirit for it.

Thanks for thinking of us Kevin. It's been a rough couple of months for many of us in Qld! But the Aussie spirit lives on with heroes like like young Jordon Rice.
